My My Performance

My My my niece loves to perform. My My is shown here in the gray and her grade had to wear the gray and it was a Tribute to Stevie Wonder. This performance was at the Wilshire Ebel Theatre. Isnt that something for a 7 year to perform at such a grand place. Monique her Mom really had her looking cute and she did put on a performance. My My has ponytails and twistees and her hair was swinging side to side when she was performing. Please enjoy the video.

Robert Football Game

BigRob2lbs was selected by his Inglewood Jets Football team to play on a special team, Orange County Junior All American Football team. Here he is wearing the blue jersey and he is numbher 50. Just think this little fella only weighed 2lbs 6oz nearly 10 years ago. BigRob2lbs will be 10 on January 4.

Real Friends

I have to say the person that convinced me to get the Sisterlocks is standing right in this photo with her husband and daughter. This is MrMerrySunshine and her locks are beautiful and she has been on this journey for 3 years. I decided to put her photo on here and that she wouldnt mind. If she does I will delete it, she is shy. Real friends are few are and hard to find. My mother always told me that hey "That's A Real Friend". I have know MrMerrySunshine since I was at Warren Lane Elementary in the 6th grade and had actually just moved here from Joplin, Missouri. I love getting tips from both of her daughters and no I am not young but young at heart.

University of Arkansas - Pine Bluff Homecoming October 2008

Hey check out the performance of our Son, Shaddy and he is in the middle/center of the photo and just press the play arrow and you can check out the Mid South Marching Band. We were certainly proud and again this was my first trip after my babies (Sisterlocks) were born on October 5, 2008. Homecoming at the University of Arkansas -Pine Bluff against Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri. Lincoln and University of Arkansas - Pine Bluff are both Historically Black College Universities.

Homecoming Pine Bluff Arkansas October 2008

This is the first trip I took with the new Sisterlocks, my babies. They were born October 5, 2008 and we took this trip to University of Arkansas - Pine Bluff. My hubby, my nephew and youngest Son and I. My nephew DJ Wes was overwhelmed and stayed at the hotel. I had never experienced a Historical Black College Homecoming until this past October. I am looking forward to attend next October of 2009. I tell you the tailgate parties is nothing compared to what we saw. Tyson Chicken gave away free food although when we arrive they ran out of food but it was all good. In this photo we were outside the Convention Center after the Battle of the Bands against Lincoln University from Jefferson City Missouri. The Fraternities had gear and they were selling some cool stuff and trust me I will be rocking my OES Gear. Hubby is wearing his Masonic hat and he couldnt wait to purchase his gear. Although DJ Wes is not in this photo he definitely went out later on with Shaddy and some other friends.

Sweetrose attending a 50th Wedding Anniversary

I love the freedom of my hair I just cant say the word Freedom Freedom Freedom. To be able to go all day and not have to set my hair with blow dryers or curlers is so remarkable. I am attending a 50th Wedding Anniversary earlier this evening and it was awesome! I told my husband now I have to run and put a photo on my bloq. To be able to attend events during the Holidays and not bother with my hair is Awesome!

The Day After Christmas

Monique, her daughters and her nephew (my youngest son) are sitting here on the Sofa chilling the day after Christmas. We all stayed comfortable in our pajamas and had a time out day. No shopping just eating leftovers and hanging around watching movies. How beautiful it is when you can spend time with family and not have to spend any money. Continue to hold onto your family, dreams, and traditions.

First Christmas with Sisterlocks

As you can see this Christmas I am all smiles with my Sisterlocks. My blouse I am wearing belong to my Mother and I am wearing it proudly as I feel her spirit and her love. I thought the red and green color would be most appropriate and that is why I chose to wear her special blouse. I curled my Sisterlocks without water or Lotta Body and I still have nice curls. I feel it is getting longer and the curls are falling throughout the day. However, it doesnt stop me from feeling BEAUTIFUL!

Godmommy to Son #2

Here is my Counsin Mary and she is the Godmother for my Second Son, Shaddy. Here you can tell she is proud of him and she does a fine job encouraging him. As they say, it takes a village to raise these children. Mary recently graduated with her Bachelor's Degree this pass October from University of Phoenix. Mary handpicked Shaddy and he tells me that he is thankful to have her as his Godmother. Are they looking cute.

The Guys

Here you see the guys ranging from 9 to 19 are hanging out to themselves. Family Tradition is so important. This is our next generation and if they are not taught about Family Tradition and passed down then we lose our roots. My Mom did that for us and I know we are doing a great job by passing the torch to the generation you see here. My Mom did a great job before she went home. These fellas know more about their history than some grown-ups. The great Uncles and Aunts also make sure they continue to tell them about their roots.

Gift Exchange

The family exchange gifts each Christmas. On Thanksgiving after we have nice, full and feeling jolly. The names are put into a hat and we all take turns pulling names for the big day, Christmas. These cuties here are modeling their gifts each one receive one or several beautiful dresses. These little girls on the left and right are my little cousins and the one in the middle is my niece. I love it that all three call me Auntie.

The Uncles, William and Willie

My two Uncles, William and Willie and they are handsome. I could not resist getting this photo on Christmas Night. William is usually on the road and Willie is retired. Both of them truck drivers and with the weather like it has been this last week, I am certainly happy to have Uncle William home for the holidays. Of course Uncle Willie is retired. I hear photos are priceless, and I truly understand. They both have natural hair. Yes I am bragging on them and you would also.

Aunt Betty - The Youngest Aunt

Aunt Betty is the youngest Aunt and she is wearing the Traditional Locks and she is looking fabulous as well. She was inspirational in me getting the Sisterlocks and I am really happy about that. I can tell you she has worn natural styles for years and looked great. I am so glad that I have finally joined the other fabulous women that are enjoying the freedom. This Aunt was a big fan of Obama from day 1 and she never missed any campaign shows. In fact if she could she would leave today for the inauguration so that she could be up front and center.

Going Natural - Aunt Lillie

This is my Aunt Lillie and she is has gone natural. Isnt her hair beautiful and the color is shining very beautifully. I think she looks great and that it is showing her true beauty. She is thinking about Sisterlocks or Traditional ones. This Aunt is also the Godmother to my youngest son, however, she is good to all of her great nieces and nephews and they enjoy the laughter as she tells them her jokes. Not only is she my Aunt, the Godmother to my youngest son, she is also my Fraternal Sister and she is a great and devoted Sister.

Aunt Annie - Host for Christmas Dinner

Well this is our oldest Aunt Annie and she and her husband have been putting on a fabulous Christmas Dinner since we were children as well. Talking about the decorations, Wow! It is so nice and the lights really make their house sparkle and their Chirstmas tree is larger than the Christmas tree at the Whitehouse. My Aunt is wearing her ponytail and she looks really cute. I am sure she might be thinking too about going natural someday or even getting herself Sisterlocks.

Who Played Santa Claus - Lil Richie

Santa was played this year by my oldest son, Lil Richie and the two kids in the photo with him is my niece and my yougest son. As you can see in the photo my oldest was on his way to work on Christmas Day, bless his heart he worked for his mentor in order for the mentor to have Christmas with his children. I am very proud of the deed he done for his mentor. Hold on wait a minute, my Big Baby (he is going to be embarrass when he see Big Baby) was able to enjoy Holiday Dinner on Christmas Eve because my Sister Googie and I prepared some goodies. My special friend Ms. Air Force fried us a turkey and it was delicious and I surely appreciate her kindness. Oops my niece her own hairstyle going on and yes she will give you a look like I still look good!

Proud University of Arkansas - Pine Bluff Dad

Hey there, our middle son, Shaddy is home from the University of Arkansas - Pine Bluff here and you can see here proud Dad wearing his t-shirt and cap. Photo taken at my Aunt Annie house for Christmas which she and my Uncle Stanley are the Host and have put on their traditional Christmas for year. Shaddy is sporting one of his outfits his Dad and I picked for him and of course his Dad feel he is hip hop and pick their clothing.

First Holiday with Sisterlocks - Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving Day was my first Holiday with Sisterlocks. I didnt have to worry about the hair being ruined for Dinner. I was able to go in the Kitchen to help my Sister Googie prepare for the Holiday. This Dinner was passed on to her from Our Mother who is now resting in Heaven. I remember when we were little girls how we prepared for the guest. As Women we continue to prepare for the guest. Monique our youngest Sister always decorated or cooked cornbread muffins and those duties were assigned to her. As you can see we are having fun and I am like Wow!, didnt have to worry about my hair sweating out or not looking good.

Bantu Knots at 11 Weeks

As you can see I am going to town on the photos, I just figured it out. I am wearing the Bantu Knots where my youngest Sister Monique enjoyed giving me this hairstyle. The first time she did Bantu Knots were on my Niece My My. I loved them and had no ideal that I would be able to have them as well. I love the fact that this is another option for me and when you have options you have "Joy". I wore this to work and received many compliments. For the one person that stated "She didnt know what I was doing". I responded and told her that I was receiving only Compliments today and to hold the Insults.

One Month

After one month, I was able to go outside the office and take this fabulous photo. I am wearing the color brown along with cosmetics from my own store - Sweetrose Cosmetics. I am a Independent Beauty Consultant and what a joy I am getting out of wearing different colors to accent the Sisterlocks. Here I see my hair look fuller by the day.

The Sisterlocks on the way to the Masonic Ball

Yes, I am rocking these Sisterlocks on a formal event. Here we are getting ready for a Masonic Ball held for the Holidays. I feel fabulous and gorgeous and my husband picked this halter top dress (black and with a goldtone) for me. I tell you never before have he gone to the store and picked my outfit in the 26 years of marriage. I am a new Sister with serious freedom and getting compliments from him quite often these days. My babies are 11 weeks here and were retightened one day prior. The babies were set with Lotta Body Foam. Sisters I am loving the freedom for sure. None of these comments "my hair is not curled" or " my hair does not look right".
